A foreign citizen entered the US legally with a US visa he had previously obtained. After arriving in the US, he learned that he was under investigation in his home country for his dissenting political views and for being affiliated with a targeted social group. Due to his opposition to the ruling government and his affiliation with a social group, he faced the risk of imprisonment. He was terrified of returning to his home country, as his close relatives who were similarly under investigation had been imprisoned for many years. At this stage, he applied to our law office for legal support. He decided to apply for asylum in the USA, where he felt safe. Based on his fear of persecution, our office processed his asylum application. This application was submitted before his visa expired and within one year of his entry into the US.
After 180 days, he received his work permit card and Social Security number (SSN), which confirmed that he could legally work in the US. In this process, he was psychologically worn out as he did not have a legal status and could not find a job in his field of expertise with his current status. Therefore, he asked our office, as his legal representative, for help to expedite his interview date. Following the legal procedures, the interview date was obtained in the 4th month of the applicant's request for expedited processing. The supporting documents to be submitted before the interview were prepared in collaboration with the applicant, and the interview was conducted. Prior to two years passing since the initial application, the applicant received asylum, which then led to the initiation of their green card processing.
